Conference from Gilles Parez

Gilles Parez, postdoctoral fellow in the research group, gave a conference on Tuesday, January 18th, as part of the CRM physics-mathematics seminars.
You can find the presentation, entitled “Symmetry-resolved entanglement measures in quantum many-body systems out of equilibrium” here.

A publication of the group is put forward in udemnouvelles

A short summary of the article “Cornering the universal shape of fluctuations, for which William is a co-author, was published in udemnouvelles. You can find the short article titled “Physics: A New Universal Law for Characterizing Fluctuations” here.

Dounia is the recipient of an excellence scholarship

Dounia Shaaban Kabakibo is granted a FÉSP excellence scholarship from the physics department of University of Montreal for her doctoral studies due to her exceptional academic record!

Congratulations Dounia!

Arrival of two new members within the group

Dounia Shaaban Kabakibo (PhD student) and AmirHossein Fallah Zarrinkar (Master student) joined the research group.

Dounia completed her bachelor’s degree in mathematics and physics at University of Montreal where she also obtained a master’s degree in Luc Vinet’s group. Her thesis was on integrable systems, Heun algebra and Bethe Ansatz. She is perusing her studies with a PhD in our group with Richard Mackenzie from University of Montreal as a co-supervisor.

AmirHossein completed his bachelor degree at Guilan University in Iran in the physics and mathematics programs. AmirHossein was ranked first student in both of his programs and won Guilan University’s best bachelor student award in 2019.

Welcome both!

New publication in Physical Review B

The manuscript “Possible quantum nematic phase in a colossal magnetoresistance material “, written by Gabrielle Beaudin, Lucie Maude Fournier, Michael Nicklas, Michel Kenzelmann, Mark Laver, Andrea D. Bianchi and William, has been published in  Physical Review B.

The Canada Research Chair is renewed

The Canada Research Chair on quantum phase transitions is renewed for the next five years. This research will advance our understanding of the rich phase diagram of quantum materials, paving the way for new technological applications. Here is the announcement made by the University of Montreal.

Éric Dupuis won the prize for best student in the mathematical physics laboratory

Éric Dupuis PhD, who obtained his degree within the group, obtains the prize for best student offered by the mathematical physics laboratory of the mathematical research center.

Congratulations!
